Document Type: Family Records

Timeframe: 1863-1864

Title: 1863-64 Isaac Greer Notebook | by Isaac Wilson

Surnames: Wilson

Summary: Isaac Wilson (1822-1864) was bushwhacked and killed in June 1864 while plowing his cornfield in Sutherland, NC. My great grandmother, Frances Wilson Osborne, was walking behind him, when he was shot from ambush. This notebook, photographed by myself when in possession of Annie Greer Heaton in 2011, contains an introduction and 40 pages of notes on his farm and service in the Confederate Homeland Guard. Three months before his death, Isaac wrote a hymn of death included in this booklet.
