Summary: Shortly before her death, the widow of John Thomas Holliman, 1844-1930, of Fayette, Alabama wrote a letter to one of her sons, James Monroe Holliman bemoaning her poverty. This was before Social Security and as a poor farmer had no savings for old age. She was almost illiterate. She is a near ancestor of Cecil, Rhodes, Bishop and Glenn N. Holliman, genealogists of this Alabama branch of the Holliman families.
